For those waiting to upgrade to the iPhone 3G on Friday, here's a good time for you to test the EDGE download speed of your original iPhone to so you can compare it to your new 3G iPhone.

TestMyiPhone.com provides a download speed test specially formatted for iPhones.

Results:
0.29 Mbps (287 kbps / 35 kb/s)
Transferred 256 KB in 7.3 seconds
Done on EDGE.

Note that the iPhone was docked and nowhere near outside where there would be a better signal.

I'll update if I remember this Friday.

Transferred 256kb in 19.9 seconds

I'm happy with edge speeds for the most part, now if you could tether 3g I would be waiting in line right now for it lol

iPod Touch on WiFi: 0.32Mbps.

The sad thing? I'm sitting less than two meters from my wireless router's antenna, and have a 100Mbps fiber connection. :rolleyes:

You are correct mightymike, "nobody" HAS corrected the mistake.;)

I have tried in a few places around town and get between 176-205 kbps. I thought Edge was supposed to max out around 150 kbps?

you all were too quick on picking up "too" that you missed "there." should be "their" unless its not someone's iphone. its just sitting there. ;)

Sorry but what about "from there iPhone" in the ad at the top of this page, is it correct? Shouldn't it be "from their iPhones"?

I'm Italian so I might be mistaking.
