Looks like this might be related to the "hacking" fiasco of awhile back...

Finally!

A last week we were at the Carson System's Future of Web Apps Summit and _every_ single macbook/pro was kernel panicing when their airtport was turned on. It was unreal!

We tracked down the issue on the apple support forum and it's been a known problem since the release of Macbook Pros but no fix had yet been released!

It was surreal to watch like 85% of the macs in the room kernel panicing all at once.

This one fixed my MBP that was kp'ing all the time when using wireless. Means i can go back to using os x again! Before it would kernel panic every time the airport was used for about 30 sec. Sweet!

Just downloaded on my MacBook (see specs in sig.)

However it wasn't listed in my software update as Security Update, it was listed as "Airport" it was a 2.1mb download.

And first reboot took quite some time.

all seems well though

Probably not - at least if you believe the note on each fix in that article, "There is no known exploit for this issue."

According to John Gruber at Daring Fireball - and I have no idea where he got the information - the vulnerabilities were discovered in an internal audit in response to those claims, but were not reported/uncovered/whatever by the researchers who started the whole drama. There's still no evidence to suggest that those guys were telling the truth, to my knowledge.

Doubtful or near impossible that a driver update can make an 802.11g card into a 802.11n card.
