Mac Updates on Tuesday? More in September?

ThinkSecret points to channel reports indicating that Apple may be preparing for "at least one" product announcement this Tuesday, September 5th, 2006, but were unable to specify which models would see updates.

Meanwhile, more confident reports have pointed to iMac updates on September 12th.

Finally, independent but unconfirmed reports claim that the MacBook will receive quiet speed bumps later this month (Sept 25th), but no word on whether or not the Core 2 Duo would be used.

Oh, I'm just getting all confused now.

I want an iMac, but if it's only getting Merom rather than Conroe it's not as appealing, but then it could be 23" which would be sweet, but if a headless mac comes out, I could get my own screen, or would a mac mini be enough for me, and then there's the iPod deal, or should I just go back to my original plan to get a MacBook with an external display, as I don't need the pro featres of the MacBook Pro, or do I?.

It should be cheaper for Apple to go with the faster Conroe cpu, rather than Merom. But I guess using Conroe would require a redesign of the internals.

If these rumors are true then it looks like September is going to be a busy month for Apple. New iPods, new iMac, new spec's for the MacBook Pro and MacBook and Mac Mini , plus a movie download service and possibly a OSX update! :eek:

Good lord, you're worse than I am. :p

I have my heart set on a new mini, preferably a core duo. But I don't want to spend $799 on one. If they are updated soon, I hope it's not one of those maddening "stealth" updates. :mad:

Yeah, since MB's are still fairly new, with the most recent update in the product line, it seems like apple wouldn't give them a bump until later. I even think updating the MB by the end of September is a bit optomistic if we're talking Core 2 Duo.

My hope is that they go ahead and update the MBP with C2D on the 5th, but I'm not sure if that's worthy of an announcement or simply a silent update. I just want a C2D MBP now please, thanks. :) Guess we'll find out on Tuesday, announcement or no.

This news story almost seems like it should be a page one rumor.
