Apple and Pepsi iTunes Promotion

Apple's homepage has been changed to promote the upcoming Pepsi-iTunes 100 million song promotion.

Apple also announced that five new Pepsi commercials for Pepsi and Sierra Mist will be aired during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters in the Superbowl on February 1st. The five ads will be:

Pepsi iTunes I Fought The Law
Pepsi Crossroads
Pepsi Mountain Men
Sierra Mist Bagpipes
Sierra Mist Fire Escape

Based on the descriptions, the "I Fought The Law" commercial (screenshots in comments thread) appears to be the only one directly promoting the Pepsi-iTunes promotion. This advertisement was previously described as featuring teens previously sued by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for illegal music downloads.

I think there is only one Apple commercial. Not sure why Apple would mention the others.

If all this expands marketshare for Apple hardware - hooking in the young, then great.

I would prefer hardware updates across the whole product line but while waiting ...
I plan on helping the recycling club quite a bit this semester. We have about 8 Pepsi machines on campus.

I think this promotion is great, but damn, 100 million songs? I mean havent we only sold like 30 mil so far? Also, thats 300 million bottles of pepsi. How long does it take normally take pepsi to sell that many?

I think the idea is good for this campaign, but untill I see more numbers, im going to remain a bit skeptical....

So much for Railhead's prediction. Should have known that this would be the next big change to Apple's web site. They wouldn't promote this and a new major product announcement. Perhaps after the Superbowl we will see updates to the Powermac and the new monitors?
