iPhoto 1.5 Rumors
The original iPhoto was released in January at MacWorld SF 2002. Since that time, the software has only seen minor revisions. A MacRumors source shared with us some information about the upcoming iPhoto update.
The upcoming iPhoto update will bring it to version 1.5 (from 1.1.1). Additional features will include burning support, iDVD Export support, and possibly more .Mac integration.
Time frame for release is still unclear, but the previously rumored Halloween release seems unlikely.

Sounds good to me, especially the iDVD integration.
what else do you think they would do with iPhoto and .mac though?

Shouldn't apple fix the issues with .Mac before they relase more apps that integrate with it? They reliability and speed of .Mac hasn't inspired much confidence in me to use it lately. And don't even get me started on the issues with iDisk.

I would bet it would fix the .mac issues. But if it doesn't I will be suprised.

The .mac integration I could care less about; I hope they're working on improving the overall user friendliness of the program. It's a great app, and has a lot of potential. I just hope they're getting the program's act together before/while they start fooling with .mac.

A performance boost for the application would be welcome. The thing is a slug.

I agree with you on the speed thing. However, it must be stated at least that this program has A LOT of data to be pushing around.
The only thing I want to be really improved is the resizing of the windows/ pictures. It should, to keep it consistant amongst computers, regardless of processor power, change the photos to box outlines, until resizing of the pictures/ window is done. In fact, this should be a system-wide change. If your computer/ you can tolerate it, there should be an option to leave it always on in the System Preferences, otherwise.
And I think the brushed metal interface needs to go--- I like it in iTunes and DVD player (Quicktime is OK), but otherwise it is silly.

Is it possible to use iPhoto without having it copy all the pictures into the iPhoto folder? I have a client who wants to use iPhoto, but all their files are stored on dual 160 GB HDs. Adding any of the photos causes iPhoto to copy them onto the local 30 GB HD... this is obviously going to become a problem :)

I would prefer a performance boost. My private library has more than 3000 photos now and iPhoto is getting soooo slow :-(
Even more, I hope that they finally offer print orders outside the US. Here in Europe/Germany a lot of iPrograms lose functionality like iPhoto (no print orders) or Sherlock3. Anyway iPhoto is a great program and I hope they'll improve it soon and into the right direction.
Bye, Nicolas

I agree. It's already more expensive over here, and there are bits missing.
